Welcome to my fourth One Room Challenge. I have been participating since the pandemic began and I love the swift kick in the butt and the requirement of getting my act together. We just bought our first rental and we have to do a full gut on the space so I though the kitchen would be the perfect space to showcase while we overhaul our first rental.
A look at where we are starting.
A few tips to keep costs down:
Keep the existing footprint as much as possible. This helps with not needing to bring in an electrician, plumber, or move the gas line.
Keep appliances if possible. We are fortunate that everything works so we’re keeping everything and putting it back when we’re done.
Refinish cabinets - this is unfortunately not an option. They were installed poorly, Mismatched and the doors were falling off. Cabinets can add up so if you can save them, you should!
Here is the floor plan goal.
We’re trying to be budget conscience so it won’t be a high end renovation. Plans for the space

Close the wall - This room is currently a long space but we will be closing it to add a third bedroom
