Kitchen Design
This week is all about the layout and selecting cabinetry for our renovation in the kitchen. We have decided to go with a shaker style white cabinet. Reminder that this is a rental and we need to get the house appraised as high as possible so we are going safe with bright white with black hardware. The previous layout included two L-shaped with mismatch cabinet.
We are going to be turning the kitchen into a U-shaped formation relocating refrigerator and adding in a wider pantry.
The big debate is if we should keep the microwave above the cooktop. I have visions of a custom hood vent with floating shelves on either side. The microwave will move to the pantry. This is increasing the cost of the build but we were able to save a ton on all the demo and with my husband in the industry we are getting great deals on the cabinets and flooring.
I also plan on scouring the web for deals on a pantry size microwave and vent hood.
I am a very visual person and so decided to tape out the entire kitchen. I do this so that I can make sure that everything has access to open and if there is a good flow within space. Another hot topic with my polls in stories - we do not have room for an island. Again it is a rental and it should not make or break finding a renter.
So much to come:
Building and installing cabinets
Creating custom vent hood
DIY floating shelves
Back splash install
Countertops and floors
